In City with Bert and took treadle crank to Inventions Office, saw Robbs. He said do not show it to Singers now but patent it in Germany first and if you get that it will show that it is a bona fide new Invention. So took treadle back to 31 Canton Street.

If you get it patented in Germany, Singers will be more willing to trade with you for the English provisional patent.
