MONDAY 17th SEPTEMBER 1888

To London by train, 12 shillings each from Blyth Bridge. Clara met us at St. Pancras station and we, Bert and I, went to Clara's place, 31 Canton Street, Poplar and had tea.

After tea I started out alone and went to the Sewing Machine Exhibition, an annual affair held at the Agricultural Hall, Islington. Could not find any treadle motions like my patent. Back to Clara's about 10pm tired out.
