To Birmingham by 12 train from St. Pancras. Met in the train young fellow from Adelaide - William Madeley, GPO Adelaide, South Australia. Or until the end of February 1889?, Church Hill, Coleshill, Warwickshire.
Saw Bagnall at 37 Lawden Road and told him his agreement not yet ready. He asked me to go to his house for the night as it was then about 7pm.

In the City, went to the Office Inventions, 54 Fleet Street, saw Golby regarding treadle and he said go to Singers. Went to Mr White, Singers manager and he kept 2 sheets my drawings and said leave treadle I will send off to factory in Scotland.
Back to 54 and with Clerk at 4 to Rotary off Chancery Lane to be sworn regarding United States patent. To Lizzie's in evening.
Had chat at 54 with Mr Clark the principal and he showed me the stocking darmen? Military looking old fellow.
