DRAWING OF THE LAST TIME JOHN SAW HIS FATHER


MONDAY 18th JUNE 1888 - JUST BEFORE 5PM - BUXTON

John only twice drew in his diary. This is the first of the two drawings, which shows the last time he saw his father. It must be a room in the house, somewhere around Buxton, where his father was staying. It shows John's father, mother and sister Hannah seated at the table with John next to his father. John's sister Mona was standing close to the table.

    I've really enjoyed reading about John and his family over the past six months, although very sad to hear of his father's inevitable death. What did William actually die of?

    Thanks for the message Diana. It made me feel a bit sad as well - strange that we could feel sad about the death of someone we never met who died so long ago.

    I don't know what he died of - I expect the death certificate should be available.
