About 10 to 15 miles tramp and awfully hot today.

  1. I'm finding this very interesting because I had a lot of ancestors round the Cheddleton/Dilhorne/Boundary/Consall area. My 4x gr grandparents, John and Elizabeth Hill, were at Whitehurst in the 1841-61 censuses and their son George was there in 1871 and 1881. And the John Brown in Bucknall could be related too - he was a farmer... If any Dockseys appear in your great grandfather's diary I'll be very excited! So thanks very much for posting it online.

  2. Hi Liz,

Thanks for that nice message. It's really good to hear that you are enjoying the blog.

I have read the whole diary. Sorry to disappoint you but I don't remember seeing the name Docksey anywhere. I hope you find other names you know though.

    Rob.
